These poor flamingos have been cooped up in my closet for months now! I fell in love with this flamingo skirt the minute I saw on the Chicwish website. However, when the skirt arrived I was quite surprised at just how long and pouffy the flamingo skirt turned out to be. While the skirt looked perfect on the model, on my short self the hem landed at pretty much my ankles and not just below the knees as most midis would. I felt kinda silly when I tried it on and the look on my boyfriend’s face when he saw it wasn’t comforting either. To be honest, that’s why it took me so long to wear it. I always envisioned pairing the flamingo skirt with cute flats but that wasn’t even an option in my case. Given the cut and pouff factor I was a bit nervous to wear it just anywhere, and so it waited for that perfect summer night out. I finally let the flamingos loose last week when we went out for Thai. I wore the skirt with a pair of caged heels and the skirt no longer looked as scary to me (as it did when it was on the hanger) after I wore it out. I think even my boyfriend was impressed after the fact.

Has this every happened to you? Where something you bought doesn’t look anything like you envisioned, but you found a way to make it work? Would love to hear your stories.

  1. I loved the flamingo skirt, such a nice print and I like flamingos very much! The outfit colors are really nice and I also loved the sandals and the bag! You look lovely! Well, yes, the hem happens to me too, as you asked πŸ™‚ I am 5'2 and a bit, kind of nearly 5'3 but not full, and I often buy things that are not what I can immediately wear… sometimes I buy something and believe it or not, take 9 years to wear it πŸ™‚ It happens quite often, in fact πŸ™‚ I guess I am just weird πŸ™‚ I hope you have a very nice weekend!

    1. Nothing weird about that Denise! I too have the odd piece that I never got to wear from about a decade ago! The good thing is that trends always come back, so it's nice to have a "unique" vintage piece when that same trend recycles. And we are exactly the same height! πŸ™‚

  2. That's attire is simply marvelous! I do love the skirt with flamingos and the way it looks with those elegant white shoes. Very youthful, yet feminine look! Besides, those photographs turned out so great, good job;)
Wish you a wonderful day ahead!

  3. Totally happened to me – online shopping is such a gamble (always annoyed when it's not the material I thought it would be -_-).. But in all honesty, this skirt looks absolutely amazing on you!! Can't believed you kept it cooped up for so long – it's adorable! You've styled it so well πŸ™‚
