I tend to go into hibernation mode in the wintertime…surfacing rarely for food or the odd necessity. Case in point the day we took these photos, we had been on a 3+ day hibernation stint when we finally decided to venture out for coffee.

Seeing as how it was freezing out all I wanted to do was bundle myself up in something soft, fluffy, and warm. So I opted to give these new faux fur goodies a try. To be honest…this wasn’t the way I had envisioned debuting these beauties and part of me was kicking myself in the ass for dropping the ball on styling these in a cuter way before the deep freeze. But blame it on the hibernation I suppose!

Nevertheless my boring outfit consisting of boyfriend jeans and chunky turtleneck needed a pick me upper and the faux fur accessories brought some life into the mix. Not sure if it was the obnoxiously oversized pom pom hat or the slightly-over-the-top fur stole, but the pieces added some fun textures to the look. It’s definitely nothing glamorous but truly represents a hibernating blogger’s ootd for a coffee run in between cozy snuggle sessions.

What are some of your favourite things to do in the winter?

It’s always nice when a piece you like is still trending a few seasons later. I was getting ready to retire these booties yet I couldn’t help but notice that ankle boots with buckles are everywhere this Fall season. So I’m going to keep wearing them. At the time when I bought them, booties were just starting to come out and ones with buckles were exceptionally scarce. But being a rocker kinda girl I just couldn’t resist their edgy look. And so here we are a few seasons later and I’m able to wear my recycled pieces. Plus they match my new crossbody bag perfectly so I lucked out.

When looking for a garment to carry forward into future seasons or to stow away for vintage later go for a quality made garment so that it upholds better for future use. And most importantly take good care of your pieces by paying attention to the care labels when washing; cleaning and protecting your leathers, etc. Another thing is that nowadays a lot of garments are made from synthetic materials and these may not always give you longevity. Knits can be tricky but I wrote a post about how to care for them, you can check it out here.

We’ve been incredibly lucky these past few weeks in Toronto, with the summer weather still in full swing even though Fall is just around the corner. I bought this cutout dress at the beginning of the summer. While I had brought it along with me on three separate occasions hoping to shoot it, neither of those worked out. However, thanks to these extended summer days I finally had a chance to wear and shoot it last week on our way out for Indian food.
Although I am kinda glad for the delay. Particularly because I’ve only had these pretty blush sandals from Lulus for a few days and otherwise would not have had the opportunity to shoot them together. I’m really digging the whole pastel kinda vibe and enjoying how the blush compliments the aqua of the skater cutout dress.
Well, here’s hoping for the warm days to stick around as long as possible as I still have a few more dresses I would like to wear before the season’s out.

Happy Sunday!
