Bruce Peninsula the Grotto

Bikini, One Teaspoon (Nasty Gal). Jewelry & Flash Tats, Child of Wild. Sunnies, Foster Grant.

If you follow my Instagram you may have seen some of these photos already; they are from a road trip we took up to the Bruce Peninsula a few days ago. Basically just me playing mermaid at the Grotto. Because really, how could one not play mermaid in such a beautiful aquatic surrounding.

Now, I apologize for the monotony of this One Teaspoon bikini, but I absolutely love it and I can’t stop wearing it. Ever since I seen it on Native Fox’s blog I became obsessed with it. Although this is the first time that I have worn it as the intended bikini. Typically I style it with an outfit like here. Worn here for actual swimming purposes with all Child of Wild jewelry and flash tattoos.

On a side note I should mention that the hike down to the Grotto was pretty treacherous. Not getting to the spot, which was easy enough, but actually climbing down. It didn’t help that it had rained that morning and all the stones were pretty slippery on the way down. But we managed to climb down and snap some photos before hoards of people showed up. And when I say hoards, I mean hoards of people. Which was absolutely crazy to me, because I remember visiting these places as a kid with my parents and we would be like the only people there. Crazy how social media has changed things.

Bruce Peninsula the Grotto

Modern Victorian

Top, Winners. Bralette, Nasty Gal. Skirt, Asos. Heels (here). Purse, Marc Jacobs. Necklace, c/o Happiness Boutique. Sunnies, (here).

One of the easiest ways to glam up a simple/casual outfit is to put a statement piece on it. For this look, I was inspired by the nouveau modern Victorian looks as seen on the FW 15/16 runways. As well as this pretty flower bouquet statement necklace from Happiness Boutique. The beautifully crafted flower pieces that adorn this necklace work well with the lace detailing of the top, while the gold and beige hues compliment the neutral colour scheme. And speaking of Fall, this look could easily transition into your Fall wardrobe by simply pairing it with a longer maxi skirt.

So how does wearing this necklace make me feel? Happy. And happiness is exactly what the Happiness Boutique delivers straight to your door in the form of a very cute package! When I first checked them out online I found an abundance of ultra feminine dresses and tops, amongst a vast selection of necklaces, earrings, and other jeweled details – and their playsuits are fab! Also, not only does Happiness Boutique offer free shipping, but they also have a customer reward program. Oh, and about the shipping; the necklace arrived before I even had a chance to head over to my mailbox to check on it. I swear it must have teleported or something. Check out their site for your own bit of happiness when you get a chance.

Enjoy your day! xo

Fall Winter 2015/2016 Trends

While it’s hard to think of summer coming to an end soon, one can’t help but look forward to newly emerging trends for the Fall/Winter 2015/16 lineup. I remember in my past life (when I worked retail for women’s fashion) it was usually around this time that we would start setting up our Fall merchandise. This was always bittersweet for me. As exciting as it was to unravel and style new merchandise, we had to sport the latest looks and wearing a chunky knit turtleneck (even though it was sleeveless) with August’s heat in full swing was not always glamorous. Alas, this season brings with it an easy transition to Autumn with lingerie-style, beautifully adorned lace, and nouveau Victorian pieces that are ready to wear off the runways, even in August.

The trends that fascinated me most were: carwash pleats, patchwork, fur accents, nouveau victorian, high OTK boots, and statement pieces like earring and brooches. Below are some highlights of my faves.

Alberta Ferretti and Altuzarra found a way to turn boring turtlenecks into beautifully crafted pieces of artwork with their bold lace detailing incorporated subtly into elegant lingerie-style dresses and slip gowns.

Of note are the very high OTK boots with oh-so impressive Victorian-style ruffles and detailing along the top.

Pleats were all over the runways, but Valentino and Oscar De La Renta stole the show for me with the carwash pleat.

Tom Ford never disappoints me, and I am in awe by the creativity behind his patchwork. He nailed the mixture of fabrics and textures with this denim and leopard duo.

Chloé had a more carefree take on the patchwork trend.

Fur accents by Tom Ford and Giambattista Valli.

Last but not least, beautifully adorned lace and slip dresses for lingerie as outwear by Dolce & Gabbana and Narcisco Rodriguez.
