If the embroidered lace detailing on the bell sleeves of this Free People top are any indication of what’s in store for spring then I am beyond excited. I’ll take all the pretty lace and crochet detailing please and thank you. Especially adore pieces that are simple yet draw your eye to one focal point with such magnificent detail, as is the case here. Another feature of this top (which unfortunately you cannot see here) is that it has a v-shaped open back.

A top like this would do very well dressed up. Which I have every intention of doing, but you know me and how much I love my denim. Even more so this Seven for All Mankind pair which I have come to adore. So of course I could not resist this bohemian meets western look that I created. With the help of a few accessories: western-style double buckle belt and of course cowboy style ankle boots. Which might I add look pretty good with a raw hemline. And such pretty embroidered lace.

On a side note, the last time I owned a pair of frayed raw hem jeans Mariah Carey was playing Heartbreaker in the movie theatre and I was wearing them with a pink crochet crop top. It’s nice to see this trend revived and updated with today’s style.

An endless source of inspiration Frida Kahlo has been to me. Not only in art but in life as well. However, the only tangible tangible item I had to represent her is a book of her life’s story and work. I once saw someone wearing a shirt with Frida Kahlo’s self portrait on it and ever since then I had wanted one. But I didn’t even know where to begin looking for one.

After that strangely enough a few months later my boyfriend and I were randomly walking through Upper Canada Mall when I spotted one out the corner of my eye. Never even noticed that store before as it was geared more towards a skater style. That being said I was real glad that we just so happened to be there that day and had walked by. I also really liked the vibrant colours of the shirt and the portrait itself was beautiful. Needless to say they only had a few Frida shirts left and I just so happened to grab the last size small. Meant to be I suppose.

Worn here with a pair of chambray denim shorts and some statement bohemian bardot jewelry. And of course a flower in my hair as inspired by Frida Kahlo.

Dress, Preloved (Lemonberry). Tote, Meow Boutique. Hat, Lulus. Bracelet c/o La Maison du Carat. Ring, Samantha Wills.

The nautical trend has been everywhere this season. But as far as I was concerned it was sailing off into the distance never to be seen again. Until my eyes spotted this anchor tote that is. Immediately drawn to the bold red and white stripe, the contrast created by the overlaying anchor graphic was almost mesmerizing.

A beach tote had been on my wish list for quite some time, so simply put, I had to have this striped anchor tote. I didn’t even realize at first that the straps were made out of actual rope, which just made it that much more cuter. Not to mention quite the statement piece for the summer. And so I wore it to the beach last weekend, pairing it with a little white dress with a lace up front, lace up sandals and a hat, for some cute yet laid back nautical vibes.

Also making its debut at the beach last weekend was this charm bracelet I received from La Maison du Carat. While I’ve seen many charm bracelets none have quite stood out like this one. Amongst the  signature charms surrounding the band sit 3 perfectly sculpted panther charms. They are made of such exquisite beauty that at times I find myself wondering how such a miniature charm can be made with this much  intricate detail. This is quite the unique take on charm bracelets and is a style I truly adore. If you would like to pick one up for yourself use promo code AGNES25 to receive 25% off any purchase on La Maison du Carat’s site. This bracelet is just one of many beautiful and unique creations.

I would love to hear what you think of the nautical trend and statement pieces in this post. Do you have any beach tote or charm bracelet faves?
