The Summer of 2020

the summer of 2020

And just like that the summer of 2020 comes to an end. It’s been surreal to say the least. Aside from the obvious topics/discussion points; for us personally it’s been a humbling yet fulfilling experience. Even before we moved out into the country we always talked about having our own vegetable garden. This summer we turned that dream into a reality. And all because of Covid and quarantine really. I can’t see us having seen this project through if life had stayed “normal.”

And as if making our first vegetable garden wasn’t enough we took the landscaping further and created a new flower garden. (Will reveal that one shortly). Considering the minimum budget, some hard work and a bit of effort, the payoff was priceless. Being able to pick our own vegetables for dinner was the most rewarding experience. Yet humbling at the same time. It really made me appreciate all the hard work that goes into farming.

But perhaps our most memorable time this summer was chasing comet Neowise across the night sky. I wasn’t joking when I suggested stargazing for a lovely evening out here. What initially started off as a desire to just catch a glance of Neowise with the naked eye turned into a comet chasing obsession. We spent the entire week observing the comet as it eventually faded from our solar system.

Other than that, things have been pretty low key over here. Although the rest of the world is entering stage 3 we’re still living quarantine life like it’s stage 1.

We venture into town seldomly and gave up our usual coffee runs. Instead we’ve started brewing our coffee at home and went through various coffee phases during lock down. From regular, to lattes, and currently on espresso. We make our coffee and spend countless afternoons hanging out in the field.

That being said, I’m actually looking forward to fall for once. Also, stay tuned for my new flower garden reveal coming soon.

Have a great week!
